​​Appointment

  • How do I make an appointment for a family member?

First of all, check if your family member is willing to seek treatment. Then, call us at our appointment line at 6389 2200​​. You need to provide us with the person’s name and NRIC number.

  • How do I change my appointment date?

Please call our appointment line at 6389 2200​​​ if you need to change the date of your appointment.

  • Can I just walk in without making an appointment?

As there are only limited slots available in a single day for walk-in clients, it is advisable that you call the helpline at 6389 2200​​​ to confirm available slots. Plan your visit so that you can better manage your time and reduce waiting time at the clinic.

  • I am a foreigner. Can I seek treatment at NAMS?

Our services are available to both residents and non-residents.

  • What happens if I am late for consultation?

Casino Exclusion Orders

  • What are the different types of Casino Exclusions available?

  • How do I apply for a casino self-exclusion order?

If you are a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident here, you can apply for self-exclusion using your SingPass. Click here to apply for it.

  • How do I revoke the casino self-exclusion order?

The minimum period for self-exclusion order is one year. After that, you can apply to terminate the order in person at the National Council on Problem Gambling.

  • How do I apply for a casino exclusion order for a family member?

Please contact the National Council on Problem Gambling for more information.

Confidentiality

  • Are all the information confidential?

 Yes, all information is kept confidential in accordance to IMH policy.

  • Will you inform my employer that I am seeking treatment at NAMS?

We do not communicate any information about our patients to a third party, even to family members, without first getting the patients’ consent. You can be assured that your treatment at NAMS is kept strictly confidential.

  • Will the relevant authorities be informed about my drug abuse?

Outpatient Clinic

  • What are your operating hours?

NAMS Outpatient Clinic are open on Mondays to Thursday (8am – 5.30pm), Fridays (8am-5pm) and clinic is closed on Wednesday morning, Weekends & Public Hoilidays.

  • Where is your location?

 NAMS is located at Institute of Mental Health. The address is 10 Buangkok View, Blk 9, Basement 1. For parking or drop off, please go to Carpark G.

  • How do I get there?

There is a free shuttle bus at Hougang MRT to IMH or you can take bus 43/43M from Buangkok MRT and alight at the 3rd bus stop.

  • Does NAMS have other clinics besides in IMH?

NAMS have Satellite Clinics in Geylang and Queenstown. Additionally we also have counselling services in ClubHeal in Bukit Batok and Rotary Family Service Centre in Clementi.

  • What are the charges to seek help at NAMS?

  • Can I use Medisave to pay for my treatment?

Yes, you can. Please inform the hospital staff on admission that you wish to use your Medisave. Then, you need to fill up a Medisave Authorisation Form which the hospital will submit to the CPF Board to make the withdrawal from your Medisave account.

  • What is I am unable to make payment for the treatment?

If you are not able to make payment due to financial issue, you may wish to approach our Medical Social Worker (MSW) for assistance.

  • What number can I call to make further enquires about my payment?

 Public Education

  • Does NAMS conduct talks on gambling and other addictions in schools and workplaces?

 Yes, we do. Simply email your request to [email protected].

Treatment

  • How long does the first and subsequent visit last?

 The first visit will last approximately 2 to 3 hours due to the assessment and the subsequent visit will last at least an hour.

  • I am a counsellor with a Family Service Centre. How do I refer someone to NAMS for treatment?

You may email us a letter of referral for your client to [email protected] or call 6389 2200 to make an appointment for your client to see us for an assessment.

  • Do you provide inpatient treatment for addictions?

 Yes, we do. Our Serenity Centre provides inpatient detoxification and rehabilitation treatment.

  • How long do I have to stay in the hospital for detox?

 The inpatient programme is 2 weeks, which consist of detox and rehab programme.​​

  • Can the family member sit in together with the client for the session?

 It is encouraged for the client to see doctor or counsellor individually first. Thereafter, the family members can request to speak to the doctor or counsellor if they wish.
