The National Addictions Management Service (NAMS) was set up at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) in 2008 with the support of the Ministry of Health (MOH) to provide treatment for people with addictions.

At NAMS, we provide treatment and support for addictions to drugs, alcohol, gambling, gaming and others.

Managed by a multidisciplinary team of specialists, our clients are thoroughly assessed to determine a treatment plan that best suits them. In addition to clinical care, our team also conducts research, provides training and works with community agencies to educate the public on addiction issues and actively promote healthy living.

We conduct individual counselling, group psychoeducation, family therapy as well as support group programmes for patients and their family members. Counselling and psychoeducation programmes enable patients to increase their knowledge and understanding of addiction and develop effective relapse prevention plans to better manage their addictions. Family counselling supports families in their caregiving role and helps with the patients’ re-integration into the community.

NAMS runs an outpatient clinic and an inpatient ward which provide residential services at the Institute of Mental Health.
